Stolen (and recovered) jewelry, smashing pumpkins, dogs got into a scuffle, and a squirrel on the loose in this week’s police blotter.

ARRESTS

  • No arrests.

November 28, 2022

  • Officer Grimley performed a vehicle check on Lumber Street. The party was lost and needed directions.
  • Officer Firth spoke with a caller regarding credit card fraud. A report was filed.
  • A Hayden Rowe caller reported a lost dog. Animal Control was notified.
  • A walk-in requested to speak with officers about fraud.
  • A West Elm Street caller reported he’d hit a rock. Officer LaTour responded and assisted with a tow truck.

November 29, 2022

  • Officers responded to a two-car accident on Whalen Road. No injuries were reported.
  • A Pond Street caller reported a man sleeping in vehicle while the car was running. Officer Staback was dispatched and checked in with the man; all was OK.
  • A Chamberlain Street caller reported a dog on the loose. Animal Control was notified.
  • Officer Staback spoke with a caller about a possible Homeland Security scam. The caller reported that no personal information was given to the scammers. Officer Staback gave advice on how to prevent fraud in the future.
  • An Elm Street caller reported the smell of natural gas. Officers Santoro and Staback responded and contacted Eversource.
  • A West Main Street caller requested to speak with an officer about an issue they were having with a family member.
  • Sergeant Brennan assisted with a disabled motor vehicle on Granite Street.
  • A Wedgewood Drive caller reported that her jewelry had been stolen from her house. Officers were cancelled enroute; her husband found the jewelry.
  • An Autumn Ridge caller reported a howling dog that sounded injured. Officers responded and checked with a negative find. The homeowner was called and the dog will be in shortly.

November 30, 2022

  • Officer Schofield responded to a Wood Street caller who reported an open door. It appeared the parties were in the process of moving out.
  • Officer Schofield checked on a vehicle on Wood Street that was parked with lights flashing. The Operator was renovating a house on the street and was picking up debris.
  • A walk-in stated that his son was involved in a crash involving a telephone pole. The car was disabled. No injuries were reported.
  • A Hayden Rowe caller reported that unknown parties were at their house. Officers spoke with the parties and they’re all set.
  • A walk-in reported a hit and run accident on Main Street.
  • Officers assisted DPW with a downed tree on Lumber Street.
  • A caller was seeking advice with a harassment matter. The Dispatcher requested the caller send email for assistance with a possible harassment order. The involved party was calling and messaging the calling party, and she would like him to stop contacting her. He has a standing restraining order against her.
  • A Legacy Farms caller reported a large log hit his wife’s car. No damage to the vehicle but the caller was requesting that the hazard be removed.
  • Officer Ekross assisted a Apple Tree Hill Road caller with a report of a stolen package containing an Apple watch.
  • Officers assisted callers on Ash, Winter, and Cedar Streets with reports of downed trees and debris in the roadway.

December 1, 2022

  • Officer Schofield checked on a vehicle on West Main Street. The Operator was the store manager who will be opening the store shortly.
  • Officer Grimley issued a Winter Parking violation on Fenton Street.
  • A Lumber Street caller reported that someone had hit her parked car.
  • A walk-in sought assistance with a harassment prevention order. Officer Saletnik spoke with the party and gave advice.
  • A walk-in reported a scam. Officer Dennis assisted.
  • Officer LaTour responded to a car vs. deer crash on Granite Street. No injuries were reported.
  • A Hayden Rowe caller reported he had hit a deer near the schools. No injuries were reported.

December 2, 2022

  • Officers checked on an open door on West Main Street and found an unoccupied vehicle. All checked out.
  • Officer Grimley assisted an Amazon driver with his disabled vehicle on Wood Street.
  • A Woodview Way caller reported their Poland Springs water was stolen from their residence.
  • A walk-in reported her “little red wallet” was missing.
  • Sergeant Brennan assisted a Pond Street caller who reported Zoey, her Wheaton Terrier, had been bitten by another dog and had suffered injuries to the eye and throat. Animal Control was notified.
  • Officer Staback assisted with an accident on Wood Street. No injuries were reported.
  • A walk-in reported that he’d purchased a product on Facebook Marketplace but had never received the item.
  • Multiple officers responded to a suspicious activity complaint of kids behind a Main Street business with a pumpkin. Officers had previously received multiple reports of destruction of property in this area. The kids were spoken with and confirmed they had smashed a pumpkin and will be cleaning it up. The kids were picked up by an adult who will be staying with them for the night.

December 3, 2022

  • Officer Saletnik discovered a disabled motor vehicle on South Street. A note had been left that the car was “being towed to Art’s”. Art’s was notified and confirmed they are aware and will retrieve the vehicle shortly.
  • A walk-in reported that his leashed dog was attacked by an unleashed dog at the Southborough Rod and Gun club on Tuesday, November 29th. Animal control was notified. The dog received numerous injuries and was treated at Vet.
  • A Winter Street caller reported that he had hit a stone and his vehicle was damaged on Pond Street. A tow truck was dispatched and DPW was notified.
  • A caller reported an erratic vehicle on Mckay Road. Officer Normandin was unable to locate the vehicle, but drove to the town line in hopes to locate it.
  • A Woodview Way caller reported hearing gunshots in the area (likely from hunting season). Officer Normandin was dispatched and was unable to locate the party.
  • A Hayden Rowe resident dropped off a gold ring he found at the Middle School gym.

December 4, 2022

  • A 911 caller reported a squirrel was loose in her house. The animal was removed.
  • A Walcott Street caller reported kids with BB guns were shooting at animals. Officers responded but the kids were gone on arrival.
  • A Main Street caller reported a male party trying to get into her business. Officers responded but the male party had left. All units clear.
  • A Connelly Hill Road caller reported her garage door was open. Officers responded and a report was taken.
