The Bull is back, a lost and found dog, and an OUI arrest lead the news in this week’s police blotter.

ARRESTS

  • On November 22, 2022, 26-year old Joseph W. Searles of Upton, MA was arrested on charges of Operating Under the Influence of alcohol.

November 21, 2022

  • A Wood Street caller reported she’d locked herself out of the DPW building. She stated she was the cleaner. Officer Stewart confirmed she works for the Town, and she was let in.
  • Officer Santoro responded to a Hayden Rowe Street caller who wished to make multiple complaints for speeding.
  • Officer Cody Normandin assisted a walk-in whose wife had locked her purse and keys in her car. The vehicle was unlocked.
  • Officer Walker assisted a Stone Crossing Way caller who reported that the previously reported loose bull was back in her yard. Animal Control was advised.
  • A caller reported receiving a threatening text message with her parent’s address. Officer Firth spoke with the caller and advised that it was not threatening.
  • Officers assisted HFD with a possible gas leak at Elmwood Elementary.
  • An East Main Street caller reported his dog had slipped her collar. Dog was reported as a mixed breed, brown and white, approximately 65 lbs, with the name “Lula”. Animal Control was advised, and the dog was reunited with her owner.

November 22, 2022

  • Officer Nicholas Saletnik checked on a vehicle on Elm Street and found it unoccupied. The car was locked, but Officer Saletnik noticed significant damage to the right side.
  • A 911 caller on Cedar Street reported a car vs. a deer crash. Officer Beloin responded and took a crash report. No injuries were reported.
  • A Lumber Street caller reported an erratic vehicle. Officers responded and checked the area with a negative find.
  • A West Elm caller reported a hitchhiker getting in the way of cars. Officers were advised during role call.
  • A 911 caller reported an erratic operator. Officers LaTour and Normandin stopped the car and arrested the driver for OUI.
  • A 911 caller reported a female driver hit a garage and drove off. Multiple officers responded and Ashland PD were able to locate the vehicle.

November 23, 2022

  • Several parking warnings were issued. This is a friendly reminder that the Winter Parking Ban is in effect.
  • Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Chestnut Street. No injuries were reported.
  • Officer Grimley spoke with the school administration about harassing pictures that were taken.
  • Officers responded to a two-car accident on Independence Place. A report was taken, and there were no injuries.
  • A Saddle Hill Road caller reported an erratic operator. Officers checked the area with a negative find.
  • A Hazel Road caller reported harassing phone calls. They were advised to contact the phone company.
  • A Park Street caller reported their cat missing.
  • Officers were called to Ash Street to check on a group of juveniles. They were sent on their way.

    November 24, 2022

    • Officer Schofield responded to a Walcott Street caller who reported discovering a vehicle that was open. The car was checked for missing items and it looked like everything was in order. The doors were secured.
    • Officer Proctor was dispatched to Elm Street by a caller who reported a dog was attached to a tree in the front yard. The dog was given to the home but they didn’t want it. Animal Control was notified and resolved the issue.
    • A Wedgewood Drive caller reported a hit and run with his and a neighbors mailbox. Pieces of the vehicle were on the scene as officers arrived. A report was taken.
    • Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on School Street. No injuries were reported.
    • A walk-in turned in a cell phone discovered on Center trail.

    November 25, 2022

    • Multiple parking warnings were issued.
    • Officers assisted HFD with a fire alarm activated on Aspen Way.
    • An Overlook Road caller reported his mailbox was hit. A report was taken.
    • Officers responded to a three-car motor vehicle accident on Chestnut Street. No injuries were reported.
    • A caller on Autumn Ridge Road reported his Christmas decorations were cut.

    November 26, 2022

    • Officer Grimley checked on a parked vehicle on South Street. The woman was waiting for her husband to get off work; all was well.
    • A caller reported a female party walking down the freeway ramps. Officers located her and she stated she was fine and was going to try to find a ride to a Franklin motel. The information was passed on the the Massachusetts State Patrol Millbury division who will handle.
    • A Glen Road resident called 911 to report that someone may have tried to enter her home. The dog was barking and she heard the door handle turn a couple of times. She did not see anyone around. Officers checked the area with a negative find.
    • Officer Brennan discovered a small black & white dog on the loose. Animal Control was contacted and the lost dog was posted on Facebook.
    • Officer Brennan assisted an operator who had run out of gas on Grove Street.

    November 27, 2022

    • Officer Burchard assisted State Police with a traffic stop. One party was arrested for OUI.
    • A Hayden Rowe resident reported construction in the area. Officer McKeon responded and confirmed the contractors will be packing up for the day.
