David E. Seely, “Rooster”, of Mashpee, MA and formerly of Hopkinton, MA, died suddenly following a brief illness on November 16, 2024 at Cape Cod Hospital. He was 59 years old. He is the beloved husband of Kolleen E. (Moulton) Seely with whom he shared 26 wonderful years of marriage. He was well known and well liked in Hopkinton.
David was born on October 20, 1965 in Boston, MA to Dennis Seely and Joan (Antonellis) Cowan. He grew up in Hopkinton, MA and graduated from Hopkinton High School, class of 1984. Following school, David began what would be his lifelong career in the construction industry, working primarily as a heavy machine operator. He was a hard worker and excelled in his field.
David can only be described as “so funny” – he was sharp, outgoing, and quick witted, always riffing with his friends and feeding off each other. He was also deeply dedicated to his family and loved being a father. He greatly enjoyed seeing the world through his children’s eyes and loved nothing more than finding a new adventure for his family to experience together.
David enjoyed travelling, going fishing, boating – especially on Lake Maspenock in Hopkinton, and working around his yard – he took great pride in the state of his yard. He also loved spending time with his beloved golden retriever, Cooper. More than anything, David is remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father, and a friend anyone would be lucky to have. A superstitious man like his grandfather “Nunzie”, David never left the house without giving everyone a kiss goodbye. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
David is survived by his wife, Kolleen Seely, of Mashpee, MA; his children, Wyatt Seely and Logan Seely, of Mashpee, MA; his mother Joan Cowan, and her husband Jack, of Bluffton, SC; his father Dennis Seely, and his wife Diane, of Uxbridge, MA; his brother Michael Seely, and his wife Vicky, of Swansboro, NC; his sister Jennifer Tardelli, and her husband Dana, of Atlanta, GA; his mother-in-law Kathleen Moulton, of Hyannis, MA; his father-in-law James Moulton, of Waco, GA; his sisters-in-law Deborah Polselli, and her husband Tony, of Marstons Mills, MA, and Kristin Bouchard, and her husband Norman, of Marstons Mills, MA; his brother-in-law Jeff Moulton, and his wife Ellen, of Leominster, MA; as well as 5 nieces; 4 nephews; and many other cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 74 Algonquin Ave. (RTE 151), in Mashpee.
