Mary Moore’s Passion for Writing and Travel: A Tribute

Mary Margaret Moore, 72, of Hopkinton, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Oris Moore and Sophie Moore (nee Sikora). She was the beloved wife of Stephen (Steve) Wills for 37 years. She met him while they were both living and working in Paris, France.

Mary grew up in Framingham and attended Framingham South High School. After graduating and starting full-time work, she dedicated herself to earning her bachelor’s degree by working at night. She earned her degree in 1987. During her career, Mary worked for several local technology companies. She retired in 2017 as an experienced Technical Writer. Mary also loved writing for pleasure, and published two novels in the 2000s. She loved traveling. She and Steve enjoyed many happy trips around the world.

Additionally, she had a lifelong interest in ancient history, cultures, religions, and mythology. She adored visiting ancient sites during her travels. She also loved all animals, but had a special place in her heart for cats. She loved fostering kittens. In addition, she spent many hours volunteering with cats and kittens at the Baypath Humane Society in Hopkinton.

Mary also loved writing for pleasure and published two novels in the 2000s. Mary loved traveling, and she and Steve enjoyed many happy trips around the world. She had a lifelong interest in ancient history, cultures, religions, and mythology, and adored visiting ancient sites during her travels. She also loved all animals, but had a special place in her heart for cats. She loved fostering kittens and spent many hours volunteering with cats and kittens at the Baypath Humane Society in Hopkinton.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her brother, Edward Moore of Connecticut. She is also survived by her nephew, Paul Moore. Furthermore, her niece, Amy Banda and her husband, Joe, and their daughter, Marigold, survive her as well. 

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 14th, from 2:00–5:00 P.M. at Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, 57 Hayden Rowe St. www.ChesmoreFuneralHome.com. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to Baypath Humane Society, https://baypathhumane.org/ or to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network, https://bcan.org.
