Every May 2nd, fans of J.K. Rowling’s beloved “Harry Potter” series gather both online and in person to celebrate National Harry Potter Day. The date marks the anniversary of the fictional Battle of Hogwarts, the epic final confrontation between good and evil that concluded Rowling’s series. The battle itself is not only a climactic narrative point but also serves as a symbol of resistance and courage for fans.
Across the globe, social media platforms buzz with tributes and themed celebrations as fans don their wizarding hats, wands, and robes. Local bookstores and libraries often host read-a-thons, quizzes, and costume contests to mark the occasion.
And in Hopkinton, an extraordinary dedication to the wizarding world has taken form in a local house that boasts its very own Harry Potter-themed room. Chenoa Lyons, a local interior designer, transformed a portion of the detached garage at her mother’s house to provide a magical play area for her two sons, who are 7 and 9.
The room is replete with the smallest details from Harry Potter world – Hogwarts house banners, a collection of wands, the mandrake, and pictures of famous wizards on the wall. Lyons took the experience a step further by creating a “potion station”, where her sons and their friends mix magical elixirs using bottles she found on the craft site Etsy.
“It’s just magic, and we want to try to keep the innocence in the boys as long as we can,” said Lyons.
It is magical and Chenoa is the wizard of change. She can take a blank space and transform it entirely into any of your dreams.
Awesome creativity!
This is FANTASTIC!!
Love the transformation into the world of mystery and magic! Great job Chenoa!
