  • 4,704 Massachusetts Residents
  • 9,100 Volunteers, including 1,600 Medical Volunteers
  • $40 million estimated to be raised through fundraising through the Boston Marathon
  • 12 Boston Marathon champions among the field
  • 26 miles, 385 yards through 8 cities and towns


  • Men’s Open: Geoffrey Mutai (Kenya), 2:03:02, 2011
  • Women’s Open: Buzunesh Deba (Ethiopia), 2:19:59, 2014
  • Men’s Wheelchair: Marcel Hug (Switzerland), 1:18:04, 2017
  • Women’s Wheelchair: Manuela Schär (Switzerland), 1:28:17, 2017


  • Zdeno Chara, Former Boston Bruin Captain & Stanley Cup Champion, bib 3333 in honor of wearing 33 for the Bruins
  • Brock Holt, Former Boston Red Sox Player, bib 1212 in honor of wearing 12 for the Red Sox in 2013
  • Ryan Dempster, Former Boston Red Sox Player, bib 4646 in honor of wearing 46 for the Red Sox in 2013
  • Monica Rakitt (nee Puig), Olympic Tennis Gold Medalist, bib 2016 for winning gold in 2016
  • Doug Flutie, Heisman Trophy Winner & NFL Alum, bib 222 for wearing 22 at Boston College
  • Daniel Humm, Award Winning Chef, bib 8538
  • Amby Burfoot, 1968 Boston Marathon Champion, bib 1968 for his ’68 victory
  • Kayleigh Williamson, bib 321, which is annually awarded by the B.A.A. and adidas to a neurodivergent athlete competing with Down syndrome
  • Bib 2013 was not awarded this year in recognition of ten years since April 15, 2013

National Anthem: Michelle Brooks Thompson, National Award-Winning Independent Recording Artist and finalist on The Voice

Flyover: Two F-15’s from the 104th Fighter Wing out of Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield, Mass. will fly from Hopkinton to Boston in approximately 4 minutes.
