On Friday, the Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce announced that a small team of business leaders had successfully prevailed upon the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council to grant Hopkinton a Platinum Rating. MassBio is a not-for-profit organization that represents and provides support and services to the Massachusetts biotechnology industry. Established in 1985, MassBio’s mission is to advance Massachusetts’ leadership in the life sciences by growing the industry, adding value to the healthcare system, and improving patient lives.
MassBio developed BioReady, is a rating system that assesses the readiness of Massachusetts municipalities to host biotechnology facilities, based on their zoning practices and infrastructure capacity. The system categorizes communities into four tiers: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. This classification helps real estate developers and biotechnology companies identify the most favorable destinations for their operations within the state.
A rating of Platinum makes Hopkinton a highly desirable community for the Life Science Industry to build and work.
The Chamber is hosting a free gathering to celebrate this achievement, and they invite the public to attend. The event will be hosted at RoslinCT, one of Hopkinton’s anchor biotech companies, with breakfast provided by Alltown Fresh.
