On Friday, October 20, the Hopkinton Police Department hosted an early release day hangout at the Hopkinton Town Common. They invited all students and several local businesses to participate, and also rented two mobile video gaming trucks for the kids to enjoy.

The response was so great that HPD had to quickly reorder from Bill’s Pizza. HPD estimated 200-300 kids, but many more that visited. “Overall enjoyment of the Common amongst the students is what we were going for. To see everyone out here and enjoying the space makes it a success,” said Detective Sergeant Scott van Raalten, who coordinated the event for the department.

“I think this is wonderful. It’s good for the kids, the Town of Hopkinton and the police department. It’s a great way for them to get to know the students in our town,” said Select Board member Mary Jo Lafrieniere, who stopped by to observe the festivities. “I love that they have a place to go to be together and to have some fun.”
