On Friday, October 13, the Hopkinton Girls Field Hockey team celebrated 11 seniors and two senior managers at Senior Night. They then went on to defeat Ashland 3-0.
The group has seen an incredible turnaround in the past two seasons. As sophomores, the girls went 2-16 and suffered a mid-season coaching change. Former HHS Athletic Director stepped in to steer them and ensure they bonded as a team. In 2022, with a new coach at the helm, the team ranked #13 in the state and made it to the second round of playoffs.
This season they are holding a record of 9-2-2 and are ranked #6. With more left to prove, the girls look to make a deep run in the post season.
“As the mom of the only freshman (now a junior) on a 2-16 team, I am grateful to have had a front row seat to how wonderful these older girls – now seniors – are,” said Pamela Zorn Adams.
Their next home match is against the 4-6-2 Medfield Mustangs on Wednesday, October 18 at 5:30 at the High School turf fields.
