Board of Appeals to Consider 6-unit Apartment on Cedar

Published on

On February 8, the Board of Appeals will consider allowing a 6-unit apartment building to be constructed at 18 Cedar Street in Hopkinton. The existing 1,861 square foot structure was built in 1900, and has been unoccupied since 2017, when Janice Brown purchased it. In its current condition the house is unusable, lacking basic amenities such as a toilet.

Ms. Brown plans to erect a 2-story apartment building on the property, which is located near downtown, adjacent from the post office.

“I want to rent to seniors who need affordable housing and want to stay living in Hopkinton,” said Ms. Brown.

For the project to proceed, Brown will need the approval of both the Historical Commission and the Zoning Board. Should the project be approved, Brown has committed to sourcing local contractors to complete the construction.
