Growing up by the ocean, fishing was a life-long passion. Philip was an avid and talented painter whose works fill the walls of friends and family. He was a scuba-diver, fisherman, golfer and chess master. In his retirement, he spent hours walking around downtown Hopkinton and the State Park.
With a forecast for continued dry and above normal temperatures through the end of the month, this will continue to put a strain on the system. The low groundwater levels are also causing water to be pulled from further out in the aquifers, negatively affecting water quality causing more periodic discoloration.
Several former Hopkinton town employees, including the former Chief of Police, joined to celebrate the wedding of Caroline Porter, daughter of former Hopkinton Deputy Police Chief John “Jay” Porter. Porter has been indicted of three counts of felony rape of a child and is awaiting trial.
Esther graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1952. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, and bowling. She loved spending time with her husband and being a mother to her children, a grandmother to her grandchildren, and an aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
He cherished long car rides with no destination in mind, exploring the hidden corners of New England and finding beauty in winding backroads. Jim enjoyed reading and being outdoors, whether camping or just going for a walk. Nothing brought more joy to him than watching a good soccer match; especially when his kids were playing. Above all, Jim’s heart belonged to his family and friends. He was never happier than when surrounded by those he loved.
Ragav Jeevanantham, Hopkinton High School senior, has recently completed his Eagle Scout service project by planning and building a set of training steps for dogs waiting for adoption at the Greyhound Friends shelter.
He was a lifelong wood worker and served as treasurer for EMWG (Eastern Mass. Woodworkers' Guild). He enjoyed spending time with his family and coached little league baseball in Hopkinton for close to 10 years. He was also a staple in his wife's 3rd grade classroom at Elmwood School as a math tutor/guru.
Eugene Savage, 77, of Hopkinton died October 3, 2024 at home surrounded by family after an illness. He was the husband of Margaret (Hoey) Savage, to whom he was married for 38 years. Born in Hoboken, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Demairis) Savage.
