WATCH: Media Day with Hopkinton Girls Varsity Soccer

Published on

On Friday, September 1, 2023 the Hopkinton Girls Varsity Soccer team hosted the media for a meet & greet and photo session. HopNews interviewed captains Juliana Grontzos, Brooke Birtwistle, Jo DuPont and Stephanie Johnson as well as Head Coach Tom Skiba to give readers a preview of the team and how they like their chances for the season.

The Hillers look to pick up where they left off last fall. During Week 7, the girls captured the TVL Large title with remaining games to play, and they earned it against Ashland, who they face this Tuesday, September 5 at 4:00 PM in the home opener. The girls went on to make an extended playoff run, reaching the state semifinals before being ousted by Bishop Feehan on a cold night in November.

Fans expect great things from this squad, but they aren’t the only ones that recognize the talent level the group has. The Boston Globe recently released their preseason high school girls’ soccer poll, ranking the Hillers the #5 team in the state.

For those that can’t attend in person, all home games will be broadcast live on HCAM-TV.
