Artist Theresa Marie Buck opens her restoring and renewing art show on October 27 at The Sanctuary at Woodville at 4:00 p.m.
The show will open Saturday, October 28 from 12:00-5:00 p.m., again on November 1 (4:00-8:00 p.m.) and November 4 for the closing reception (4:00-7:00 p.m.).
Buck will begin the opening reception with a talk on what inspired the show and some Bible verses to go with it.
According to Buck, one day at church, a guest speaker talked about the hurricanes last fall and how she prayed about them. This inspired her work.
“I wanted to share what God was showing [me] through these paintings,” said Buck.
“God is renewing, so I started taking old paintings and collaging over them, and then painting over the collage work. So the show is all about restoring and renewing,” she said.
Buck got into art at young age.
“My sister would always get these kits from one of my aunts to draw, and I was like, ‘I want to draw.'”
She went on to success with her studies at Mass College of Art with a major in Art History. Buck has had experience with detailed watercolor art primarily of landscapes and flowers, but also has a love for oil pastels and sticks.
“I love color and lines and especially unusual color combinations. I love metallics because the painting changes in the shifting light of the day.”
The upcoming art show is also not the only show she has held. Buck’s art has been featured in a gallery in Shirley, a show at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, and the Sprinkler Factory in Worcester.
