Readers may be noticing that “NO TURN ON RED” signs have been installed on poles at critical intersections in the Downtown Corridor.

Above is the sign facing drivers on Cedar street. An source within the Hopkinton Police Department shared that the primary motivation for installing the sign was to ease the morning and afternoon congestion in the intersection from drivers trying to turn left from Grove Street, which faces Cedar.

“If you’re attempting to make a left turn from Grove to Main, you can sit through multiple light rotations because of the right turns from Cedar,” they said. “This new traffic pattern will mitigate that problem.”

The source also stated that Hopkinton PD will be stepping up enforcement in this location.
