Keith Andrew Regan, 57, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Brigham and Women’s Medical Center after a brave battle with cancer. His family surrounded him at the time of his passing.

Keith is survived by his wife of 8 years, Lisa (Dominguez) Regan. He was a devoted father to Andrew J. Regan of East Falmouth, MA, and Ilona Marie Regan of Germantown, MD. He also leaves behind the mother of his children, Ilona Sobkowiak of East Falmouth, and Ilona Marie’s fiancé, Connor Craigie. Keith was the son of Joe and Diane (Trefry) Regan of Hopkinton.

He was a loving brother to Cheryl (Regan) Catalina and her husband, Gino, of East Sandwich, MA, and a cherished uncle to his niece, Kristin Catalina, of Venice, CA. He was also a beloved stepfather to Jack and Lydia Ellinwood of Whitinsville, MA.

Born on August 17, 1967, Keith graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1985 and from Stockbridge School of Agriculture in 1987. That spring, a severe accident while working in a tree left him with a potential for paralysis. Still, he recovered and studied at Northeastern University, earning a BA in Journalism in 1993. In 2000, he completed an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College.

For the past ten years, Keith worked alongside his father at Joe Regan Tree Work in Hopkinton, MA, while contributing as a freelance writer for MASSterList, an online political newsletter. He previously wrote for the Boston Business Journal, The Standard-Times, and The Daily News of Newburyport. Additionally, Keith participated in lumberjack competitions with his father at the Cheshire Fair, Brooklyn, CT, and Cummington Fair, among others.

In Grafton, where he lived before moving to Hopkinton in 2010, Keith was actively involved in the community as a planning board member and chairman. He also coached youth soccer for his children. Before the pandemic, he was a regular player with the Warthogs indoor soccer team at the Hab in Uxbridge. He also volunteered with his children at car wash fundraisers for Young Neighbors in Action at St. Patrick’s.

Keith was passionate about gardening and the outdoors. He often led his family on hikes to enjoy the beauty of New England. In September 2023, Keith and Lisa relocated their family, including their beloved dog Homer, to Whitinsville.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 4-7 PM at Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St, Whitinsville.

Keith’s funeral mass will occur on Saturday, September 14, at 11 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St, Whitinsville. Burial will be private at a later date.

Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the Grafton Land Trust, Bay Path Humane Society, or the Thornton House operated by Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
