Today, at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center, the Hopkinton Hillers Indoor Varsity Track team put on a strong showing against Tri-Valley League rivals at the annual TVL Showcase.

The Hillers Boys finished first overall, scoring 74 points and besting Medfield, Holliston, Dover-Sherborn, and a host of other strong teams. The Hillers Girls finished second, with 69 points, in a field that Holliston dominated with 93 points.

Notably, the Hillers hurdlers swept the finals, taking the first four spots. Senior Drew Bialobrzeski posted a blistering 8.07 55 meter time, followed closely by his twin brother, Will, who finished with a time of 8.15. Harry Millar, a sophomore, came in third, and James MacCarthy finished fourth, with a time of 8.29.

It’s all Hopkinton on the scoreboard

Equally impressive was the showing from Alice Brambati, a visiting exchange student from Italy, who finished first in the hurdle finals with a time of 8.78, while Josie Hopkins finished fourth with a 9.16.

Loryn Canty sprints toward the finish line at the TVL Showcase
Canty is feeling good after the win and a personal best time of 7.28 seconds in the 55m dash

In the 55 meter dash, it was all Loryn Canty, as she set a personal record of 7.28 seconds. The result was momentarily in doubt, as Norton’s Jillian Strynar, who is widely considered one of the fastest girls in the state, tied Canty’s time. But an official review confirmed Canty’s win; her time was 7.271, while Strynar finished with 7.276, just five thousandths of a second behind.

It was the final meet for the Hillers, and today’s performance bodes well the Spring session, where the Hillers look to send several runners to compete at States.
