On Saturday, January 18, Hopkinton High School Robotics hosted a VEX V5 “High Stakes” tournament at Hopkinton High School. This tournament serves as a qualifier for the state championships being held February 22, in Framingham.
Once again, Doug Scott’s (District Leader for Business, Tech & Engineering grades 6–12) students come out on top!
In Vex Robotics, students are given a new challenge annually and must design, build, program, and drive a robot to complete the challenge as best as they can. In the tournaments, teams are assigned an alliance for each match to compete against opposing alliances in match play. The two Hopkinton teams were 2602 (designated HHS) K & E. The top seed, KryptoKnights 2602K, chose the other HHS team, The Entropy 2602E, as their alliance. The final 16 teams get to choose their own alliances for the final bracket matches.
The KryptoKnights won the Excellence Award. This award is given to the team who demonstrates overall excellence in all components of the VEX program including design, engineering, programming and engineering notebook.
Team Entropy won the “Judges” Award. This award was given by the judges for excellence in their robotic programming.
Congratulations to KryptoKnights and Team Entropy. Good luck at the State Finals on February 22!
