On Monday, May 13, candidates for public office in Hopkinton were required to submit a M102 Campaign Finance Report to the Town Clerk’s office.

Nearly $10,000 was raised in the Select Board race alone from 54 individual donors. Candidate Joe Clark had the most donors, with 28 people giving $50 or more to support his run. Brian Herr received money from 16 donors, while Peter Mimmo and Kyla McSweeney each had 11 donors.

The average donation amount for Mr. Clark was $105. Mr. Herr averaged $127, Ms. McSweeney averaged $186 and Mr. Mimmo $191.

In total, Mr. Clark raised the most, hauling in $2,835. Ms. McSweeney followed him with $2,520, Mr. Mimmo collected $2,100 and Mr. Herr brought in $2,025.

The largest single donor to both Mr. Mimmo and Ms. McSweeney was the Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee, who gave $500 to each of their campaigns. When combined with individual donations from members of the leadership team, the HDTC contributed 19% of all money in the race.

The largest donor for Mr. Herr was former Selectman Brendan Tedstone, who gave $500, and the largest donor for Mr. Clark was Hopkinton resident Jerry Keefe, who gave $250. Neither Mr. Clark or Mr. Herr received donations from a political party.

The campaigns spent primarily on print and digital advertising, yard signs, and promotional items.

The charts below show the donations for each candidate. The election is Monday, May 20.
