Upton: On Tuesday, June 2, Pratt Pond, Taft Pond, and Lake Wildwood will be treated with aquatic herbicide(s). This is in connection with Upton’s annual aquatic weed management program.
The contractor will first evaluate the water body to determine the types and locations of aquatic weeds that need to be treated. This evaluation will determine the type of herbicide to be applied.
Last year, the aquatic herbicides Tribune and Propeller were used.
Water use restrictions following the application of Tribune or Propeller are listed below
| Herbicide | Drinking | Fishing & swimming | Consumption by livestock & domestic animals | Irrigation of turf & landscape ornamentals | Irrigation of food crops & production ornamentals |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tribune | 3 days | 0 | 1 day | 3 days | 5 days |
| Propeller | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2 Days | 5 Days |
HopNews will follow up to learn the results of the contractor’s evaluation and which herbicide(s) are selected for treatment.
