Town Manager Candidate Resigned over Policing Controversy

On Tuesday night, the Hopkinton Select Board will interview four finalists for Town Manager, including controversial candidate Jason Hoch. Hoch, Williamstown’s former Town Manager, resigned in 2021 following a federal lawsuit accusing him and Chief Johnson of neglecting racial harassment and sexual assault complaints within the Williamstown Police Department.

Select Board to Interview Town Managers, Receive Update on Redacted Documents Scandal

The Hopkinton Select Board will meet to interview Town Manager candidates, receive an update on a mishandled document release involving former Deputy Chief Jay Porter’s alleged victim, and discuss the Eversource LNG facility’s safety. They will also consider releasing Executive Session minutes from 42 past meetings.

Hopkinton’s Director of Public Works, Kerry Reed, announced that the Massachusetts DEP approved the activation of a full-scale PFAS treatment system at Well #6, now operational and providing cleaner water. PFAS, harmful to human health, likely contaminated Well #6 from AFFF used by the Massachusetts Fire Academy. The approval is valid until July 1, 2027.
