There will be a Special Town Meeting (STM) Tomorrow, December 4th, at 7:00 P.M., in the high school auditorium, to prevent being overcharged on taxes.
What’s Needed
Town officials need at least 131 residents (quorum) to attend Thursday night’s meeting, which should be quick, to approve a change to the 2026 budget. They’re hoping for unanimous support to protect taxpayers from being overcharged.
Why It Matters
This isn’t about giving money back to residents. It’s about making sure your tax bill (coming out at the end of this month) isn’t higher than it needs to be. Without this fix, every resident will be overcharged.
How Did We Get Here
When the town set the budget last year, they overestimated what would be needed for 2026. Now that the actual numbers are in, they’ve discovered the estimate was $6 million too high. The town needs to adjust the 2026 budget amount by reducing general fund spending and reallocating funds to debt payments, employee benefits, and insurance.
Bottom Line
This is time-sensitive. Town leaders need a strong turnout to pass this budget correction and keep your tax bill at the end of December from being unnecessarily high.

$6 million?!!!!!!
