Are your resolutions focused on spending more time in nature? How about getting fit or connecting with new, like-minded people? Great, join the Hopkinton Trails Club (HTC)!
The HTC runs a Trail Maintenance Workday on the first Saturday of each month. The work varies, depending upon the needs at each site. You can expect anything from from removing invasive plants to building trail bridges.
First Trail Maintenance Day of 2025—Saturday, January 4
Time: 9AM-noon
Location:Â Historic Bridges cellar foundation
Meeting/parking location:Chamberlain Street extension
Work to be done: Clear fallen trees and brush from the cellar foundation
Tools: Loppers, hand saws
This is one of five historic cellar foundations in Hopkinton marked & documented with signs installed as an Eagle Scout project. Sadly, the site is overgrown with brush, along with several trees which have fallen into the foundation. The plan is to clear as much as possible. Park along Chamberlain Street at the trail leading to the foundation (map in the link above).
Monthly Meeting and Next Walk
Wednesday, January 8, 6:30PM: Monthly meeting at the Hopkinton Library. The re-formed Hopkinton Trails Committee is seeking new members. Volunteer to serve and help guide the future of Hopkintons trails.
Sunday, January 12, 1PM: Rockwood Meadows walk. These trails head into the Peppercorn Hill conservation area, and offer a number of options for loop walks. We’ll decide what’s best based upon the weather and the group’s interest.
Directions: From West Main Street, turn south on School Street (at Angel’s Nursery & Coffee Barn). After 0.3 miles, you will see the large parking area on the left along with an informational kiosk.
