Hopkinton will host its annual Independence Day parade on Saturday, July 4, celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary under the theme “Hopkinton Celebrates America’s Birthday.”
Parade Route
The parade steps off at 11 A.M. near Center School. The route runs along Park Street, then turns onto Hayden Rowe toward Hopkinton High School before continuing along Grove Street, Pleasant Street, and Main Street. The parade ends on Ash Street near Center School.
Awards Ceremony
After the parade, an awards ceremony will take place at the gazebo on the Town Common. Organizers will present five awards:
- “McIntyre” Best Family Award
- Most Patriotic Award
- Best Performance Award
- Most Creative Award
- Best Parade Route Decorations Award
How to Participate
The parade is open to any person, group, organization, business, family, or neighborhood in Hopkinton. There is no entry fee. Organizers ask that participants keep messaging positive and family-friendly.
The registration deadline is June 30. Sign-ups and additional information are available at HopFourth.net.
What Spectators Should Know
Residents who want to watch are welcome along the entire route. Unlike past Hopkinton parades, this year’s event will be water-free. Organizers made the change to promote safety and protect historic uniforms and costumes.
Candy and trinkets may be handed out to spectators along the route, but nothing will be thrown from trucks or floats.
A limited number of chairs will be available near the corner of Routes 185 and 35 and on the Town Common for those who need them.
Rain Date
If weather forces a postponement, the parade will be held Sunday, July 5 at 1 P.M.
About the Event
The parade is sponsored by the Veterans’ Celebration Committee with support from the Hopkinton Republican Town Committee and the Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee.
