Celebrating the Life of Phyllis Hill: A Tribute to Family and Love

Published on

Phyllis A (Glaude) Hill, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on April 23, 2026, where she resided with her daughter Charlene, grandchildren Lisa and Billy Hindes, and rescue dogs Patrick and Sandy.

Phyllis was born in Plattsburgh, NY, in 1931 to the late Alice (LaValley) and Leo Glaude. She attended Plattsburgh High School, followed by Plattsburgh State University, where she was admitted at the age of 16 due to her advanced academics.

She married Charles L. Hill in 1950, and they settled in Hopkinton in his childhood home. Together, they raised five children and enjoyed 59 years of a wonderful marriage until his death in 2010.

Phyllis’ happiest times were spent with her big family during special occasions and frequent visits, as well as during summers on the Cape with family and friends.

Her heart was her home. The door was always open, awaiting the next visitor. Friends would drop by for a hot coffee and good conversation. A revolving door invitation was always available to all her children’s friends to gather in their new room. She was loved and adored by many.

She loved to travel, enjoyed musical theater, and was an avid reader. Word puzzles, playing cards, and Yahtzee were her fun pastimes. She often went shopping with her friend Ellie at Macy’s. She loved to decorate for every holiday, especially Christmas, which was her favorite. For 60 years, she would stop everything to watch the TV soap opera Days of Our Lives, knowing all the characters as if they were family.

She enjoyed some of her best moments sunbathing in her lounge chair with friends and family on the beach in Dennisport, listening to the ocean.

With fondest memories, we celebrate her life well-lived. We will all miss her dearly.

Phyllis is survived by her five children and their families: Cheryl Hill of Kissimmee, FL; Charlene Hill of Hopkinton; Charles and Sue Hill of Uxbridge; Robert and Kim Hill of Uxbridge; and Paul and Lisa Hill of Milford. She leaves 10 devoted grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. in St John the Evangelist Church, 20 Church St, Hopkinton. Internment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Hopkinton.

Donations in her name can be made to Baypath Humane Society, 500 Legacy Farms N, Hopkinton, MA 01748.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Callanan Cronin Funeral Home, Hopkinton.
