Another member of the Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee resigned today. Ilana Casady, who was elected to the Housing Authority last year formally sent a letter of resignation this afternoon.
This comes after Select Board member Shahidul Mannan and his wife, Nasiba Mannan, both resigned late last night. Mr. Mannan previously served as the Vice Chair of the HDTC.

“I have felt out of alignment with the organization’s values since last summer,” set Casady. “I have not been part of the HDTC or paid dues or attended meetings since that time. I’m a proud democrat, but the leadership in the HDTC needs to change. This isn’t personal, I consider many members my friends. But I do not like how the organization has been run in recent months.”
Casady continued: “I feel we have many Democrats in town that have the right ideas but who have been poorly represented. I remain hopeful that people continue to serve our town and their neighbors.”
Casady was the first Democrat to publicly condemn the actions of former HDTC chair Darlene Hayes. Upon taking her seat on the Housing Authority last June, Casady read a prepared statement, saying “[Hayes’] actions damaged the reputation and credibility of every board and committee she sits on.”
Good for you! It takes a strong person to go against the tide.
