Hopkinton’s Annual July 4 “Horribles” parade was missed this year, but not by everyone. According to a news release from the Hopkinton Republican Town Committee, some members rallied at the Town Common (the traditional starting point) and held their own parade, following the historic route.
“Building on our past, we have plans for the future,” said the release from the HRTC.

In past years, the Hopkinton Horribles parade has been organized by various people, including Dan McIntyre, whose grandfather, Charles McIntyre began the tradition in the 1930’s. It had been held continuously since 2019, when COVID and downtown construction combined to suspend the operation. Past parades have seen musicians, police cars, fire trucks, silly costumes and elaborate floats, often poking fun at local hot-button political issues. There were no fees to join; anyone that wanted to participate just showed up.
With downtown construction slated to conclude by the end of the year some residents are hopeful to see this tradition return next Independence Day.

Miss the old days. Families, neighborhoods and businesses having good old fashion fun! Great memories!????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Love it !!
Just a little bit of fun while celebrating the 4th of July! It was great to drive past folks who honked back at us and waved. Special shoutout to the folks standing outside the Muffin House!
Happy 4th of July everyone!!!
Awesome! Thanks for keeping the tradition alive! Years ago there would also be horses, ponies with sulkys, kids who decorated bikes, tricycles and baby doll carriages. Kids clamoring to get the candy thrown from the floats while dodging getting sprayed with water. Hope next year it will be back in full force.
Watching in Lakeland Florida..Loved it when we lived in Hopkinton
I have a beautiful Jersey which has the ‘American Flag’ on it, which says underneath it this is my Pride Flag!
I miss the Old days how many remember?

This is great! The Horribles parade is one of our all time favorite July 4th traditions in Hopkinton and we have missed it these past few years. Hope to see it return in the future.
Hope it’s back next year. We moved to town in 2019 so we got to experience it that year before it was taken away. It was a blast.
