The event was recorded at the local TV studio and will be broadcast at a later date. The topic for this year’s competition was “Environmental Crisis: Fact or Fiction”. Students were judged on content, delivery and timing of each speech. A total of six High School students participated in the competition.

First place was awarded to Ryan Darbhanga, a senior at Hopkinton High School. Eva Bennet, a Junior at Hopkinton High School was named runner up. Both students received a cash prize on behalf of the Hopkinton Lions Club.

“We were very honored to have six local students carve out time from their busy schedules to participate in our yearly Lions Club Speech Contest. The quality of all six presentations was outstanding and the students deserve the highest commendation for their preparation leading up to the contest,” said Lions Club President Mike Tarsi.
