The Hopkinton Public Schools will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Charleswood Elementary School.

The celebration will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. Please use the construction entrance located at Marathon Elementary School, 129 Hayden Rowe Street, Hopkinton, MA.

A Partnership for the Future

The new Charleswood Elementary School is made possible through a partnership with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA). It represents Hopkinton’s next step in shaping an educational campus for the future. This partnership emphasizes the importance of the groundbreaking for Charleswood Elementary in Hopkinton.

“Charleswood Elementary stands on the core values of community, innovation, and sustainability,” said Superintendent Evan Bishop. “This project reflects the best of what happens when educators, residents, and designers work together to create a school that will serve our students and our town, for generations to come.”

Setting a New Standard for Sustainability

Set within the woodlands adjacent to Marathon Elementary, the school’s design celebrates Hopkinton’s natural landscape. The town’s place at the headwaters of the Charles River inspires three themed neighborhoods: Meadow, Forest, and River. The building will be Net Zero–ready, fully electric, and built to Passive House certification. This will set a new benchmark for healthy, efficient, and resilient schools across Massachusetts.

Voices from State and Local Leaders

The groundbreaking ceremony will feature remarks from state and local leaders. This includes representatives from the MSBA, the Hopkinton School Committee, and the Charleswood School Building Committee. A community celebration will follow an official groundbreaking for Charleswood Elementary in Hopkinton.

An Invitation to the Community

Hopkinton invites all community members to attend this milestone event celebrating the town’s ongoing commitment to educational excellence and sustainability.
