The Hopkinton School Committee is pleased to announce successful contract negotiations with Evan Bishop, who will officially step into the role of Superintendent of Schools on July 1. He has already been actively hiring for the new Director of Student Services and the interim High School principal and assistant principal positions.

In addition, he has been working closely with retiring Superintendent Carol Cavanaugh as he plans to transition to this new role. His initial contract covers July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2028. Having worked in the Hopkinton Public Schools since 2005 and as principal of the High School since 2013, Mr. Bishop is well known in the community.

The School Committee selected him unanimously to serve as the next superintendent after a rigorous screening process in which he received high praise from staff and community members alike. His commitment to the students, staff, and community has shown throughout his tenure in Hopkinton, and the School Committee is enthusiastic about the work ahead with him.

Mr. Bishop said, “I’m incredibly honored and excited to be the next superintendent of Hopkinton Public Schools. Having spent the past 20 years in the district, I’ve seen firsthand the strength of our schools, the support of our community, the dedication of our staff, and the enthusiasm of our students. I look forward to working collaboratively with staff, families, and town leadership to support our students and continue building a school system the entire community of Hopkinton can be proud of.”

As the school year draws to a close next month, there will be more information on Mr. Bishop’s entry plan to the superintendency and opportunities to hear directly from him about this important transition.
