New in 2025: The banners displayed on telephone poles along the first mile of the marathon course are available as posters. They are offered in two sizes: 8.5″ x 11″ and 11″ x 17″. While supplies last, they can be ordered through the Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce website. They will be shipped directly to you—there is no need for in-person pickup.

The relatively recent tradition of displaying banners along the first mile of the Boston Marathon course began in 2019. This initiative was launched by the Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with local partners to celebrate the town’s connection to the Boston Marathon. Since its inception, it has steadily grown in popularity.
