Incident Log Monday, November 16, 2015 9:15 pm A 911 caller from Avenue D reported that a man appeared to have set some trees on fire with gasoline. Three officers responded and spoke with the man who stated that he did not start it but was trying to knock it down. The Fire Department extinguished the fire. 5:28 pm A 911 caller reported a possible road rage incident on Wood Street. Two officers responded to check the area with a negative find. 3:00 pm A caller was concerned about an elderly man who was walking on the side of West Main Street. Officer Arthur Schofield responded but was unable to locate him. 2:37 pm The Elmwood School reported that an at risk third grader had taken off from school and was being followed by a teacher. Two officers responded and assisted with getting the child back to school. 1:32 am Officer Jacob Campbell issued parking violation warnings to several motor vehicles on Church Street, Church Place and Main Street. 1:10 am Officer John Corridan issued four motor vehicles parking violation warnings on Elizabeth Road, David Joseph Road and Barbara Road. |

November 17, 2015 — This afternoon, a British Airways flight was boarded at Logan International Airport following the report of a woman attempting to open the cockpit door. Further investigation proved that report was erroneous. She had attempted to open the EXIT door, but failed. Her actions, according to investigators, was the result of intoxication, and not terrorism. She has been identified in the update below.
The British Airways Flight 213 passenger who
caused today’s in-flight disruption is identified as KAMILA DOLNIAK,
32. She is a citizen of Poland and has been processed by Customs and
Border Protection. State Police are charging her with interfering
with a flight crew. CBP has placed a detainer on her. |

Incident Log Sunday, November 15, 2015 8:48 pm The Ashland Police Department was notified of a pickup truck that was all over the road and had just crossed into Ashland on East Main Street. 8:33 pm A worker at a school on Hayden Rowe Street advised of two screens that were off windows and of a window that was partially open. 5:34 pm A walk-in from Eastview Road spoke with two officers regarding property being stolen from their home. 10:39 am A resident of Connelly Hill Road reported repeated harassment since moving in involving doorbell ringing, soaping and rock throwing. The caller also stated that their windshield was broken last evening. 8:38 am A Spring Street resident reported once again receiving harassing phone calls from someone he does not know telling him that he knows where he lives and is coming to get stuff. 1:28 am Officer John Corridan reported witnessing a suspicious vehicle traveling near North Mill Street toward Laurel Canyon Drive. Sgt. Timothy Brennan advised that he believed it was a security vehicle.
Saturday, November 14, 2015 10:12 pm A caller reported that a small white car was heading towards downtown on Wilson Street with the driver and front passenger yelling for help. An officer responded but could not locate the vehicle. 9:29 pm A caller from Main Street reported suspicious activity of a group of males with paintball guns shooting a vehicle. When they were confronted one of the males pulled a knife and then fled the scene. Three officers responded to check the area. 5:59 pm Officer Arthur Schofield stopped a motor vehicle on Granite Street and subsequently arrested a 26 year-old male from Hopkinton and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle With License Suspended, Subsequent Offense, Operating a Motor Vehicle With Registration Suspended, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Uninsured Motor Vehicle/Trailer and No Inspection Sticker. 1:08 pm A Fruit Street resident complained about a company still working. The caller was advised that the by-law allows them to work until 4:00pm. 12:13 pm A caller reported that two youths on an ATV were riding in and out of traffic on Main Street. Officer William Burchard checked the area with a negative find. 9:46 am A caller reported that construction vehicles were blocking Patriots Boulevard, not allowing residents to leave. Officer William Burchard responded and spoke with them. 8:42 am A resident of Ash Street reported that he just returned home and found his window open with a recycling bin under it. Three officers responded and wrote a report. 2:36 am A caller from North Mill Street reported a suspicious white van in the neighborhood. Three officers responded and spoke with the operator.

Sgt. Scott vanRaalten responded and advised that the vehicle belonged to an employee who was waiting for his wife to pick up their child and vehicle. 11:37 am Security on South Street reported that there had been a vehicle, which belonged to an ex-employee, parked in their lot for the past few weeks. The owner was contacted and stated that he was out of the country. 9:32 am Officer William Burchard assisted a walk-in with a passport verification. |

Pedestrian Crash on I-95
November 15, 2015 — This evening at approximately 5:00 p.m., troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Framingham Barracks responded to reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian on I-95 South in the area of Exit 15B in Dedham. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2014 Ford Fiesta struck a 44-year-old female from Roslindale who, for reasons still under investigation, was in the traveled part of the roadway. The operator of the vehicle, a 56-year-old male from Walpole, sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to Norwood Hospital. The facts and circumstances remain under investigation with the assistance of troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and troopers assigned to the State Police Detective Unit attached to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office. The victim’s name is not being released, pending notification of next-of-kin. Troopers were also assisted at the scene by personnel from the Dedham and Westwood Fire Departments, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highways Division. The right two lanes of I-95 and the Exit 15B South ramp were closed for the duration of the investigation. All lanes were opened at approximately 7:30 p.m. |

Jean E. Brown, 93
Jean E. Brown, 93 , of Hopkinton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 13, 2015. Born in Dana, MA, she was the wife of the late Norman Brown and the daughter of the late Sarah (Douglas) and Leslie T. Haskins.Jeane was best known for her kind nature, cheerful optimism, and bringing out the best in all who knew her. She loved working in her gardens and they continue to delight all who pass by. She was a librarian at the Hopkinton Public Library, a store window designer, and a life-long artist. Jeane used her talents to hand paint town seals on many fire truck doors for Continental Fire Trucks, founded by her husband. She is survived by her children, Diane Facendola and her longtime boyfriend, Tom Drawe, of Hopkinton, Nancy Joyce and her husband Michael of Moultonborough, NH, Steven Brown and his wife Janet of Cambridge; her brother, Alvan Haskins of Framingham and 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by two daughters, Bonnie Wentworth and Sandy Brown and her brother E. Douglas Haskins. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 17th at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Community Church in Hopkinton. Donations may be made to Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home, Employee Fund, 45 Union St. Natick, MA 01760. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton. |

Massachusetts State Police Increases Vigilance in Light of Paris Attack
Actions underway are as follow: 1. The Massachusetts State Police and our federal partners in the Joint Terrorism Task Force and at the Commonwealth Fusion Center are closely monitoring developments coming out of France and worldwide intelligence sources. 2. The State Police Division of Field Services is increasing security around the area of the State House with Troop H personnel. 3. State Police Troop F at Logan Airport is monitoring intelligence and has a comprehensive and multi-layered security package in place. 4. State Police Troop Commanders are notifying all on-duty troopers of the developments ongoing in Paris and directing them to have a heightened awareness of potential suspicious activity within their patrol areas and reminding them to be mindful of their own security and that of their barracks.
Please note there are no plans to do any interviews at this time. Our prayers are with the French people tonight and our thoughts are also with the French law enforcement and counter-terrorism authorities who are working to end this ongoing threat. |

Two officers responded and wrote a report. 5:11 pm Officer Philip Powers spoke with two individuals about a trespass order. 3:46 pm Officer Philip Powers referred an individual to the court regarding a civil issue. 10:58 am A caller reported that a motor vehicle side swiped a stone wall on East Main Street then took off. Officer William Burchard responded to speak with the caller. 10:56 am A motorist reported that a company was blocking the roadway on Saddle Hill Road. Officer Stephen Buckley responded and stood by while they packed up. 6:55 am A caller from Main Street reported that it appeared a truck hit the front entrance of the building which caused damage to the gutters. State Police, Worcester Police, U.S. Marshalls Nab Fugitive
SEMPRITH-GARCIA was wanted out of Worcester for charges of aggravated child rape and intimidation of a witness, stemming from the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl. Evidence indicates that in spring of 2014, SEMPRITH-GARCIA, an acquaintance of the victim’s family, raped the girl in her home and then threatened to harm her if she told anyone. The crime was reported, however, this past September.
Earlier this month, Trooper Amy Waterman from the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section began working with Worcester Police Detective Rich Boulette to track down SEMPRITH-GARCIA. The investigators developed information that he had fled to Puerto Rico. Persistent investigation allowed them to determine the suspect was in Arecibo, a city on the island’s northern coast.
Worcester County prosecutors will work with federal officials to arrange SEMPRITH-GARCIA’s extradition to the United States to be held accountable for his crimes. No further information is being released at this time. |

Anthony
J. Vento Jr., 33
NORTHBRIDGE - Anthony J. Vento Jr., 33, died at Milford Hospital November 8, 2015 after a brief illness with his wife by his side and surrounded by friends and family. He was the husband of Alyssa (Capistran) Vento. Born in Framingham, he was the son of Deborah (Dailey) Vento of Upton and the late Anthony J. Vento Sr.
He was employed as a heavy equipment operator at High Acres Associates in Hopkinton for 13 years and most recently at American Recycling Materials in Holliston for 5 months. Anthony took tremendous pride in his work.
Anthony enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially adored being with his son, Luca. He loved snowmobiling and spending hours working on his collection of various vehicles.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son Luca, his sisters Heather LaPlante and husband Christopher of Westborough and Corissa Soares and husband Odilon of Hopkinton. He also leaves his father- and mother-in-law Richard and Sharon Capistran of Uxbridge, sister- and brother-in-law Jessica and David Hynes of Burriville, RI and brother-in-law Joshua Capistran and Holly Lee of North Kingstown, RI. Further, he leaves his maternal grandmother Adeline Dailey of Hopkinton, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, many friends, and his beloved dogs Kenny and Roxy.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, November 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 20 Church Street, Hopkinton. Burial will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Hopkinton. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Callanan Cronin Funeral Home, Hopkinton. (www.callanancronin.com)

Gannett Family honored by Milford
Regional at Mélange
MILFORD – The Gannett family was recognized at Milford Regional Medical Center’s annual fundraising gala Mélange for their significant generational contributions to the community and hospital. Above, on Veterans Day at the Senior Center, Hopkinton native Mary Harrington reads the short biography of another Hopkinton service member who perished in World War II. Below is the story she wrote and read:
Merton L.
Chouinard 1923 – 1944 Merton was born in 1923 at the family home at the corner of Cedar and B Street, Hopkinton to Louis and Ruth Chouinard. (This neighborhood was and is known as “The Lane”). He was a graduate of Hopkinton High School. He was a hard worker as a young man, raising pigs and having a very large garden. This earned him a scholarship from the 4-H to attend the Stockbridge School in Amherst to study agriculture. As he came from afamily of 15, his efforts helped to support and feed his family.
He joined the Army Air Force and was a 21 year old, 2nd Lieutenant navigator in a B-24 Liberator bomber named “Pot of Luck” when he was shot down over Germany on September 28, 1944. He was part of the 567th Bomb Squardron and the 389th Bomb Group. Everyone on board bailed out and later it was learned that Merton might have drowned in the Rhine River. He initially was reported as missing in action¸ however, after a year, the Army located the body. His father declined the offer to send the body home stating that it didn’t make sense as we’d never know if it was really him. Merton is buried in the American War Cemetery in Margraten, Netherlands.
He was posthumously awarded the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart. |

Chester L. Costa Sr., 66 Chester L. Costa Sr., 66 , of Hopkinton, passed away November 9. 2015. Born in Athol, he was the son of the late Doris and John Costa. He was the husband of 8 years to Susan E. (Murphy) Costa of Hopkinton.Chester was one of eight children. He was truck driver and a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors and being with his dog, Abby. Besides his wife, he is survived by his four children, Chester Costa Jr., Jimmie, Brian and Kim Costa; and 4 step-children, Benjamin, Jordan, Beau, Taryn, and Jamie Kay Dellicker. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Alisha, Kelley, and Jimmie Jr. Costa, Tyler, Troy and Tarryn Warrington, Matt and Andrew Abare, and Bryson Costa. Services will be held privately with the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton. |

birthday of the United States Marine Corps, and the Massachusetts
State Police thank the men and women of the USMC and all Veterans

Massachusetts
State Police and Worcester Police this morning directed US Marshals
in Puerto Rico to the location of a suspected child rapist. At
approximately 7 a.m., MARKYS SEMPRITH-GARCIA, 18, was taken into
custody in the city of Arecibo.
