Hopkinton 16, Norwood 13
The Hopkinton Hillers improved their record to 5-4 with a hard fought 16-13 win verses Norwood on Friday night. Connor Hebert scored the go ahead touchdown from 6 yards out with 30 seconds left and the Hillers blocked a last second 37 yard field goal to preserve the victory. Sam Lehman started the Hiller scoring with a 5 yard TD while Nate Wilson had 63 yards rushing out of the wildcat formation that included a 33 yard scamper in the 4th quarter to help key the winning drive. Jack Vaccari hauled in a huge 4th down catch from Jimmy Adams on the final drive while also adding a 21 yard field goal in the first half. The Hillers travel to Walpole this Friday night at 7pm for another clash with the Bay State Conference. (Jack Vaccari catches and runs for a key 1st down in the Hillers' victory) Contributed content. New Elementary School Wins by
Landslide 1211 - 431
November 9, 2015 - It was a huge win for the
Elementary School Building Committee as they worked hard
to have a transparent and thoughtful process to put the memory
of the failed Fruit Street School behind them and find the best
solution for a new elementary school (Left thumbnail). The
school passed two weeks ago at
The polls closed at 8:00 pm sharp, right after some last-minute young voters rushed in to cast their ballots, and as Election Warden Russell Ellsworth, below, called that the time for voting was over. It seemed like fewer than 8 minutes, possibly a record time, that Town Clerk Geri Holland and election worker Annie Marcy came out with the printed tapes detailing the totals in each precinct, and people began adding them up. The school won soundly in each precinct, totaling 1,211 in favor and 431 against, the result of hard campaigning. The Field House also won (Right thumbnail), but by a smaller margin, actually losing in Precinct 2 and squeaking by in two of the other three, for a total of 873-761. There were 1645 ballots cast in all.

Parenting With An Open Mind What could me more meaningful than raising our children to be free of prejudice and hatred. We have an extremely important responsibility to teach them to be open minded and free to befriend the human race, not just those of the same religion or ethnic heritage.
Some parents do not disparage others but constantly make derogatory remarks about themselves. Remember your shame becomes their shame; they need parents who take pride in themselves with humility and without arrogance. Perception Tainted by History
Happiness is dependent of the way we perceive, not on the environment we encounter. Our children pay very close attention to the way we view the world, and they will model themselves according to our beliefs and attitudes.
Children force us to reflect and remember the many experiences we have put away in the recesses of our minds. Each stage of their development reminds us of the experiences we had in the same developmental period.
We have to be aware of the hurts we accumulated in our childhood so that we do not pass on our biases to our children. As parents we need to recall how we reacted to each developmental phase. What did you experience in elementarily school, middle school, high school etc. How were your family relationships during those times, how did you do with friends, sports, girlfriends, boyfriends and how have your experiences influenced how you see the world today.
Open Home/Open Mind If we work out our past hurts and dysfunctional thinking we are in a position to create a home free of bias by discontinuing the cognitive distortions of Labeling-labeling your behavior and the behavior of others in a negative way and Emotional Reasoning-basing conclusions about yourself and other people on your feelings, rather than on the facts of a situation. Teaching your children how to perceive accurately and factually will lessen their stress and give them the opportunity to enter our diverse world with confidence and compassion for all. Your efforts will significantly influence their future, discipline yourself to be fair to all people and they will do the same while reaping the benefits of an open mind.

Framingham Teen Charged With Rape in Framingham Girl-In-Woods Incident
Judge David Cunis set bail at $50,000 cash and ordered the defendant
to wear a GPS monitoring device, to remain confined to his home, and
to stay away from the victim and witnesses as well as Framingham
Public Schools. The next scheduled hearing in this case is Monday,
December 7.
"The
defendant in this case allegedly took advantage of the victim when
she was in a vulnerable state," said District Attorney Marian Ryan.
"We are actively working with school officials and the Framingham
Police Department to fully investigate this matter."
On Wednesday, November 4, Framingham High School administrators
located a female student in the wooded area near the school after
recognizing that she was missing from her afternoon class. The
student appeared to be disoriented. She was then transported to
Metrowest Medical Center.
While
conducting an investigation authorities were informed that the
defendant allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim
without her consent.
This
charge is an allegation and the defendant is presumed innocent until
proven guilty.
This case is being investigated by the Framingham Police Department and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. |
