John Porter notified the Westborough Police Department of an erratic operator on Route 135. 8:13 pm A caller from Saddle Hill Road reported that a vehicle alarm was going off. Sgt. Michael Sutton checked the area and advised that all was secure. 4:28 pm A motorist reported a blown tire in the middle of Route 495 south causing a road hazard. Protester Arrests
June 10, 2014 — Monday afternoon State Police responded to the Transportation Building at 10 Park Plaza, Boston, where a group of protesters had gathered on the fourth floor, the location of state Department of Transportation offices. After the group discussed their concerns with DOT officials, many of the protesters refused to leave. State Police officials had several discussions with the remaining protesters, repeatedly encouraging them to disperse. Furthermore, the group was warned that they would be arrested if they did not leave. Shortly after 7 p.m., more than two hours after the offices closed for the day, troopers peacefully arrested 11 adult females and 10 adult males and charged them with trespassing. The arrests were made without incident. Most, if not all, of those arrested were young adults.
The female defendants were transported to the Boston-Lower Basin Barracks for booking, the males to the South Boston Barracks. Provided that none of them have outstanding warrants, all are expected to be released on personal recognizance (plus a $40 bail fee) pending their appearance at a future date in the Boston Municipal Court.
The State Police acknowledge and respect the right of the public to peacefully assemble. Once the demonstrators had their opportunity to speak their concerns, and the offices closed for the day, their continued presence on the fourth floor constituted trespassing. |

Body of Missing Person Recovered
at Ice
House Pond Person had been missing a short while  June 9, 2014 — The body of a 70 year-old woman, an avid walker, reported to have gone for a walk earlier today but was overdue, was discovered by searchers in the woods near Ice House Pond, which is on the grounds of the Golden Pond facility. Police discovered the body of the missing woman but were not giving out any specifics as of 3:30 pm. UPDATE, June 10, 2014: Mary Beth Long from the office of District Attorney Marian Ryan has said that there is no evidence of foul play, but would not discuss any details, as the investigation is open and ongoing. |

The individual was gone upon arrival.

Saturday, June 7, 2014 11:44 pm Call for erratic operator, stopped by Officer Jacob Campbell, who issued a verbal warning. 11:30 pm Officer Aaron O'Neil came upon four young people on Rafferty Road, destroyed marijuana on scene, waited for two parents to pick up one half of the group, and transported the other two home in a cruiser. 10:59 pm A Fawn Ridge Road caller reports a suspicious vehicle repeatedly parking in front of a neighbor's house, shutting off its lights while keeping the motor running. It was gone upon arrival. 5:49 pm A Greystone Lane caller found a black border collie. Case turned over to Animal Control Officer William Proctor. 5:49 pm Caller reports being assaulted by an individual in a motor vehicle. A witness went to the station to offer her perspective, and Officer Gregg DeBoer interviewed them as well as the suspect. 4:53 pm Lights at Lumber Street malfunctioning. 4:42 pm Someone reported an elderly woman on Wood Street looking lost and confused. She was gone upon arrival. 1:10 pm A resident reported witnessing a large truck hit the 495 bridge on West Main Street. The officer on duty found no damage. 12:24 pm A Front Street resident reported an issue with a solicitor. Fundraiser at the Woodville Rod and Gun Club June 13th 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
We are having a fundraiser to help raise
money for Bode’s Bunch, a triathlon team made
up of Hopkinton resident and a few family members of Bode, to
raise money for the JDRF. We are participating
in the Cohasset Triathlon on June 29th and the team is using
this one event to help raise money to find a cure. As a side
note, since Bode’s diagnosis five year ago (this is my fifth
time doing the tri), there has been a handful more of children
in our town that have been since diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile
Diabetes. We have formed a little T1 Club, a club you don’t want
to be a member of, but one that you pray and fight for a cure to
help our kids! |

Officer John Moran moved the trash off of the roadway and left a message with the Ashland Highway Department to pick it up.

Officer William Burchard responded and assisted with catching and releasing the bat. 9:12 pm A caller from Saddle Hill Road reported two suspicious vehicles parked next to her house. Officer Aaron O'Neil responded and advised that he located two empty vehicles. 8:25 pm A Winter Street resident reported that he arrived home to find lights on in the garage and the security keypad up. Three officers checked the residence and advised that everything appeared to be in order. 7:28 pm An Ash Street resident reported that a neighbor was operating construction equipment in violation of the town by-law. Sgt. Michael Sutton responded and spoke with the individual who shut down for the night. 1:41 pm A 911 caller reported a two car motor vehicle accident without personal injury on West Main Street.  Yefim (Fima) Baryudin, 23Yefim (Fima) Baryudin, 23 , of Hopkinton, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Born in Russia, he was the son of Pavel and Larisa (Ragutshteyn) Baryudin of Hopkinton.Yefim was the brother of Leonid (Leo) Baryudin and his wife Stephanie of Ashland, and their son Joshua. He also leaves his paternal grandparents, Semen and Lusy Baryudin of Boston; an aunt, Irina Ragutshteyn of Malden; his uncles, Mykhail Ragutshteyn of Malden and Alex Baryudin and his wife Victoria of Westwood. He also leaves behind his cousins, Evelina Ragutshteyn, Alan and David Baryudin. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6th from 4-7p.m. at the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, 57 Hayden Rowe St. A funeral home service will take place on Saturday, June 7th at 11:00a.m. with burial following at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Hopkinton. Editor's Note: This obituary is again brought near the top to be joined with a photo of the young man, whose name might not have been known by some who read the notice originally, but who was known on sight by many for his friendliness and helpfulness in some of the establishments he worked at while growing up in Hopkinton. SUPPORTS MILFORD REGIONAL
BUILDING EXPANSION The Milford
Regional Medical Center Foundation officially recognized this
week news of a $150,000 leadership gift from Louis and
Janice Guerriere and Guerriere & Halnon, Inc. to
Excellence…The Campaign for Milford Regional Medical Center.
The gift is part of $17 million the capital campaign has already
raised towards a goal of $25 million.
The Guerrieres also are members of the
1903 Society and are always there to help the Medical Center
enhance its services. The couple has previously gifted rooms in
the Patient Care Center and the Cancer Center at Milford
Regional during previous capital campaigns. Louis is the President of Guerriere &
Halnon, Inc. Engineering and Land Surveying, a company he
founded 40 years ago with offices in Milford, Franklin and
Whitinsville. The company has worked with Milford Regional on
many expansion projects since its inception, and MRMC has
benefitted from the company’s tireless support through its
membership in the 1903 Society and corporate sponsorships of
Mélange and the Annual Golf Classic. Excellence is supporting a major capital initiative that will result in a new Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and private patient rooms. The new two story structure will more than double the size of the current ED from 30 to 52 private treatment rooms, increase the number of patient rooms in the ICU from 10 to 16 expanding their size to accommodate the latest technology, and add a 24-bed private room unit with the intent to convert all hospital patient rooms to private. Help From Some Friends June 4, 2014 — Volunteers from EMC
Corporation’s engineering team came to the Hopkinton Center
for the Arts as part of a volunteer day on Friday, May 30th.
The volunteers helped complete many vital projects,
including painting exteriors, cleaning and organizing
storage spaces, replacing bulkhead doors and repairing an
awning. Many thanks to this team who went above and beyond
in completing various tasks on the HCA’s volunteer project

The
Ellsworth Family has made a generous $10,000 gift in memory of
their late mother, Jeanette P. Ellsworth. In recognition
of this gift, the Conference Room of the newly renovated and
expanded Library will be named for Mrs. Ellsworth, who served as
Director of the Hopkinton Public Library from 1972 until 1991.
