Space and Place, an HCA Photography Exhibit by

Carolyn Latourelle September 4-24

HOPKINTON, MA (August 28, 2012) --- The photography of Carolyn Latourelle will be featured in the Space and Place exhibit at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, 98 Hayden Rowe in Hopkinton from September 4 -24. Latourelle was the second place winner of the HCA’s recent On the Edge exhibit, and works at the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University as Assistant Program Manager to Academic Affairs. A special reception, open to the public, will be held Friday, September 7 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Gallery hours are weekdays from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

“Space and Place is the result of two concurrently developing bodies of work,” Latourelle said, “In Space I have eliminated the traditional, art historical representations of the female nude. I invite the viewer into a different place, where the female nude no longer functions as an object of display. The Place exhibit features photographs I took of the rooms in my grandparent’s house using a 4x5 pinhole camera. My hope is to not just preserve the memory of the space in a tangible form but to engage the space and solidify the essence of each room of their house.”

Body of Man Found Under Bourne Bridge

Massachusetts State Police units, along with units from the US Army Corps of Engineers and the US Coast Guard, have responded to the Cape Cod Canal, under the Bourne Bridge, to recover the body of a man who apparently jumped or fell from the bridge. The incident occurred at approximately 9:25 a.m. The investigation is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. Wikipedia file photo by JPO.

UPDATED:

The body of the man in the above incident was recovered by the US Army Corps of Engineers, which oversees the Bourne Bridge. The body was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, where ER personnel worked on him. The man was pronounced deceased at 10:18 a.m. Initial investigation and examination revealed no obvious signs of fatal trauma beyond that sustained from entering the water.

A witness came to the State Police Barracks in Bourne to report that a man was scaling the fence on the Bourne Bridge. As a dispatcher began sending patrols to the bridge, callers to the barracks reported that a man had just jumped from the bridge. A subsequent investigation by State Police located his vehicle near the bottom of the bridge.

The deceased has been identified as a 41-year-old Wareham man. Preliminary investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police along with the State Police Detective Unit for the Cape andIslands and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section suggest his death was a suicide. State Police generally do not identify victims of suicide. No further information will be released.
