SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL

Join the fun at a Summer Music Festival on Saturday June 23^rd from 1 PM – 8:30 PM on the grounds of the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA). The lineup includes Steve Spector/Carter Berking, Barbara Kessler (file photo), Robb Millett, The Burnsides, Sasha Yatchenko, Shut Up James, Splatter Cactus, Blackwell, Take Care and more.  Activities, raffles and hot air balloon rides round out the day. Proceeds go towards renovating the HCA facilities, a capital campaign spearheaded by the Hopkinton Community Endowment. 

 Admission $15 Adults, $10 Students/Seniors, with children under 5 free and a $40 maximum for families. Purchase tickets at the Festival or in advance at www.hopartscenter.org.

Registration at the Town Common 11:30 am

Parade starts at Noon

Join the Horribles Parade. - A tradition spanning more than 80 years.

All are welcome. This year’s theme is

“Revitalize”.

It’s your chance to comment on local, state or national events.

Dress up yourselves, your vehicles, your bikes, make your own floats,

or just march in your most festive 4th of July attire.

Any and all floats and entries are welcome (file photo).

Prizes for ‘Most Horrible,’’ ‘Most Patriotic,’ and other categories will be awarded at the Common after the parade.

Parade starts at the Town Common, follows Hayden Rowe Street to Grove Street, down Pleasant Street to Main Street and returns to the Common.

You can register early or on the day of the Parade. Don’t panic if you are having trouble developing an idea. Most of the “horrible” entries from past years were put together on short notice - sometimes the morning of the 4th!

10:14 pm A Wedgewood Drive caller reported his vehicle was sideswiped, but the vehicle did not stop.

10:10 pm A Spring Street caller reported a man dressed only in shorts was walking aimlessly up the roadway. Detective Brennan checked the area with a negative find, but did note that an individual who lives in the area is known to walk frequently.

7:32 A Wood Street resident reported his son-in-law had gone into his house earlier and taken some items. He said he wants to be sure the man dose not return.

5:40 pm Assisted Boston Police in contacting Hopkinton resident.

5:08 pm Officer Peter Booth, responding belatedly to parking compaints on hayden Rowe Street, found that the issues had cleared up in hte meantime.

5:04 pm Took a report of a possible restraining order violation on Davis Road.

3:21 pm A caller reports a teen known to him acting strangely on Church Street near his home. A friend picked him up before police arrived.

2:21 pm An Oakhurst Road caller reported a fire in their grill. The arriving officer reported it was small and under control.

1:38 pm Officer Stephen Buckley took aprt in a Community Policing section on Hayden Rowe Street.

1:10 pm Officer Stephen Buckley, while on scene at a motorcycle accident on West Main Street, where the injuries were so minor that the ambulance was called off, another accident ocurred involving no personal injury.

10:04 am Assisted with Firefighters parade.

1:48 am Assist other police agency on West Main Street.

12:59 am Officer Linda Higgins checked a motor vehicle on Saddle Hill Road.

12:09 am A neighbor complained of a party and fireworks in the John Matthews Road area.

11:43 pm Officer Linda Higgins conducted a motor vehicle check on Lakeshore Drive.

11:26 pm Officers conducted a motor vehicle check on Grove Street.

8:36 pm Units checked on a person who was reported to be coming out of the woods and into a neighbor's house, but it turned out to be the neighbor.

8:07pm A caller reported a newly acquired dog was sick, and might be related to where it came from.

6:27 pm A caller reports having a window smashed and items stolen — a smash and grab — just over the line in Milford.

1:42 pm A caller was unhappy with teens trying to flag cars into a charity car wash, but Officer Philip Powers found no violations.

6:09 pm A West Elm Street resident walked in to complain of suspicious calls on his new cell phone.

11:50 am Westborough PD advised a truck loaded with brush causing a hazard was heading into Hopkinton, but it could not be found.

10:51 am A person checkin on a Wood Street property reported a past B&E.

2:05 pm 2:05 am Checked on a motor vehicle on Grove Street.

1:54 am An operator who called to say he drove his truck into a lake, which turned out to be Pratt Pond in Upton, did not know where he was.

11:43 pm An individual waiting for a friend on Hayden Rowe Street was moved along.

10:37 pm A DJ Murphy Lane caller complained of a neighbor making noise. Neighbor promised to quiet down.

7:57 pm A large raccoon was stuck in a dumnpster on Chestnut Street. Officer Peter Booth put a board in to assist its exit.

4:59 pm An individual reported two checks stolen from his vehicle at his workplace on East Main Street.

3:42 pm Checked a vehicle on Clinton Street.

2:33 Minor MVA on Main Street.

12:24 pm Officer Gregg DeBoer spoke with a West Main Street resident about a larceny he was reporting.

12:46 pm A Hayden Rowe Street caller complained of harassing phone calls.

7:28 am Officers assisted with an accident in front of the tennis courts, but the occupant(s) refused treatment.

1:51 am Checked a motor vehicle on Spring Street.

1:43 am Officer John Moran checked on suspicious activity on C Street.

11:28 pm Officer Peter Booth arrested an individual on Hayden Rowe Street for OUI Liquor.

11:18 pm Sgt. Scott vanRaalten spoke with a Lakeshore Drive resident about a restraining order violation.

9:17 pm Officer Peter Booth issued a complaint application regarding alcohol to one or more people and transported them to the station.

 4:56 pm Officer Aaron O'Neil was unable to locate a dog that was reported by several people to be running loose on West Main Street.

1:39 pm Officer David Shane responded with the Fire Department for an alarm at a Nazneen Circle residence as a result of cooking.

June 8, 2012 — Kindergarten students who won the HPTA raffle got to have pizza at Bill's this morning along with their teachers, one of whom, Mrs. Lynne Rufo, left, is retiring after 37 years on the job.
