OUI accident on Route 495

One passenger not wearing safety belt, ejected, seriously injured

July 5, 2008 — On Saturday, July 05, 2008, at approximately 2:40 a.m., troopers assigned to the State Police Barracks in Foxboro responded to a single vehicle crash on Route 495 South prior to Route 95 (exit 13) in Plainville that resulted in one serious injury and one minor injury.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Thomas Hannon indicates that 20 year-old Matthew Bimberg of Medway was operating a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup in the left lane of Route 495 South in Plainville when he lost control of the vehicle, exited the road to the left, then reentered the roadway and rolled over before coming to rest in the center travel lane.  The passenger, 20 year-old Nicholas Coots of North Attleboro was not wearing his safety belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.  He was transported by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.  Bimberg suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries. He was arrested by Rhode Island State Police after his release from Rhode Island Hospital on a fugitive warrant out of Wrentham Court on charges related to the crash.  Bimberg is charged with Causing Serious Bodily Injury by Motor Vehicle While Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Marked Lanes Violation and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

This crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.  The Plainville Fire Department, Plainville Police Department, Foxboro Fire Department and MassHighways assisted troopers on scene.

Due to the crash investigation and vehicle removal, the left and center travel lanes of Route 495 South were closed for approximately 4 hours.

Summer Rain

July 2, 2008 — A series of cloudbursts hit Hopkinton in the early afternoon on Wednesday. According to a Native American saying, "Big rain little rain, little rain big rain," the deluge would not last long. The saying means that if the raindrops are large, the rain will not last long, but if the drops are small, the rain storm will be lengthy. The center line of Main Street provides scale to the splashes.

Keown Found Guilty Of First Degree Murder In Poisoning Death Of His Wife, Julie

Third murder conviction in a week at Middlesex DA's Office

WOBURN – July 2, 2008 — Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone informed the public today that a Waltham man has been found guilty of first degree murder in connection with the poisoning death of his wife, Julie Oldag Keown, in September 2004.

James Keown was found guilty of first degree murder by a Middlesex Superior Court jury today.  He was convicted of murder for executing a plan in which he poisoned his wife by placing ethylene glycol into her food and drinks over a period of time. He was sentenced by Middlesex Superior Court Judge Sandra Hamlin to life in prison.

Opening statements occurred on Monday, June 16. The jury began deliberations yesterday, July 1, at 9:30 a.m. They returned the verdict at approximately 1 p.m. today.

“James Keown was a liar and a failure and, because of that, he executed a sadistic plan to poison his wife and obtain her life insurance money,” District Attorney Leone said. “He compounded the pain for Julie’s family by trying to claim that Julie committed suicide – a claim that had no basis in evidence, facts or reality. While this verdict will not bring Julie back, we hope it provides some solace to her family that the man responsible for these cowardly and reprehensible crimes will spend the rest of his life in prison.”

However, one plane is trailing vapor, and appears to be much farther up in the atmosphere, judging from the less distinct, lower contrast image.
