Endorsement of Carolyn Dykema We are
offering our endorsement of Carolyn Dykema to continue
as State Representative for Massachusetts’ 8th
Middlesex District. We base this decision on a
number of areas of success and achievement during her
first two terms, including her demonstrated ability to
work with other legislator to get things done, as well
as her ongoing support for education and our veterans. First, to get things done in
government it is not enough to have a good idea,
representatives must have the ability to convince others
to support your idea. Carolyn has demonstrated that
ability over and over again thorough her first two terms
as a state representative. Her success in this regard
has been acknowledged by recent awards she has received
from the Massachusetts Nursery and Landscaping
Association and the Massachusetts Water Works
Association in recognition of her continued efforts to
preserve our environment. Second, Carolyn continues to work to
support our schools. In an era where school budgets are
declining but the need for quality education is
dramatically increasing. Carolyn has been a leader
in developing partnerships between local schools and
area businesses to assure that our young people will
have the skills they need to be successful in business
upon graduation. Carolyn
Dykema has worked tirelessly and highly effectively to
support the constituents of the 8th Middlesex
District and we enthusiastically support her reelection Jan McDevitt Jack McDevitt 7 Beaver Brook Dr Holliston Ma 01746 |

A vote for Carolyn Dykema for State Representative in the 8th Middlesex District will help continue a fine tradition for all the residents in the District. Over the years my neighbors and I have been very ably represented at the State House by folks like Barbara Gardner, Paul Loscocco, and most recently Dykema—folks from different parties but dedicated to common principles— professionalism, ethics, commitment and stewardship. Carolyn continues the effort to advance goals we can all support— small business protections, veteran’s benefits, state support of educational priorities, transparency and accountability from elected officials. Honestly, we are very fortunate to have her working for us at the State House; I hope you join me on Tuesday, November 6th voting for Carolyn Dykema for State Rep.
Carolyn works tirelessly for issues that I value like excellence in education, veteran’s benefits, innovative environmental initiatives, responsible fiscal management and progressive social initiatives like healthcare for all. Further she works across the aisles with folks from all constituency bases; she is respectful, responsive and cooperative…in short she works hard to find common ground while also working to move the entire district forward in important ways.
I find it interesting and instructive that in my household that now includes voters in both major parties and those that choose to remain un-enrolled, she may be the only candidate on Tuesday that gets all of our votes; we value and encourage independent and critical thinking in our children, and she is a candidate that earns a vote from all quarters. Even my 11 year old (admittedly a non-voter) understands that Mrs. Dykema is nice, hard-working and invested. We are a tough house politically speaking, but Carolyn Dykema inspires us all to action…we all support Carolyn Dykema for State Representative.
In her recent mailing she included a photo of hands “holding the rope”, an image that speaks volumes. Sometimes we all hold on and work hard for ourselves and our neighbors—we “hold the rope” for all including those who can’t hold on for themselves at the time. Sometimes, we let go and count on others to “hold the rope”. It comforts and encourages me that Carolyn Dykema is always hard at work and “holding the rope” for all of us in the 8th Middlesex District. Vote Dykema on Tuesday November 6, 2012.

Endorsement of Carolyn Dykema
Dear Editor:
Most important, she really listens and does her homework
on issues. I have been deeply impressed by her
commitment and genuine concern. She has the
courage to break ranks with the Beacon Hill
establishment,when appropriate, such as opposing
expansion of gaming.
I am a registered independent and my ballot will reflect
my choices of the candidates from both parties.
This election cycle, my choice for state representative
is clear – Carolyn Dykema. I hope that my
neighbors will join me in supporting Rep. Dykema as
well.
Sincerely,
James F.X. Kenealy, M.D.

Endorsement of Carolyn Dykema To The

Endorsement of Marty Lamb Dear Editor, Government regulations are hurting our local businesses. I was disappointed to learn that Rep. Dykema voted to force home daycare centers into a state employee union. She’ll say they are not forced, but the state takes the money out of the voucher whether they join or not. These are small women owned home daycares that are being hurt. These small businesses have opposed being in the SEIU for 8 years. Instead of the legislature accepting that decision, they passed legislation to force them to pay union dues. Rep. Dykema’s vote was anti-small business. The large corporate daycare centers like Kindercare are exempt. Worse yet, it will cause the rates for parents to increase, and moreso cause them to close their doors. This hurts parents and children who rely on trusty local daycares. On November 6th we can do better. Vote Marty Lamb for State Representative. Donald Folkes 22 Stowe Rd Southborough, MA |

Endorsement of Carolyn Dykema Dykema Standing Up for Our Veterans
When I returned home from my recent
deployment in Iraq, I wanted to ensure our state
remained forward-thinking and focused on the current and
future climate for our service men and women and their
families. Representative Dykema, as a member of the
Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs, quickly
and without hesitation reached out to me and my staff to
impress the importance of including court diversion
treatment programs for our veterans in the “VALOR Act”.
On numerous occasions, my staff and I met with
Representative Dykema to develop provisions in the bill
that would assist service men and women dealing with the
difficulties of reintegrating back into society after
their military deployments. The “VALOR Act” was signed into law
by Governor Patrick on May 31, 2012. With Representative
Dykema’s support and counsel, several provisions of the
new law were adopted directly from the legislation she
originally filed and for which she advocated at the
beginning of this legislative session. House bill 3410,
An Act Relative to Support for Veterans, provided a
blueprint for how we should evaluate the unique
experiences and needs of our veterans as Massachusetts
continues to explore models for veterans’ treatment
courts. The passion and enthusiasm Representative Dykema
displayed in advocating for our veterans, military
members, and their families was unmatched. I certainly
look forward to partnering with her and her
knowledgeable staff in the future to address the many
issues that still remain within our veteran population.
