Upton Heritage Day Celebration

by | Sep 20, 2025 | News

Did you know: Upton was once part of Hopkinton!

Upton Historical Society presents Upton Heritage Day on Saturday, Sep 27th, from 9-2 at Upton’s Town Common and surrounding areas, which is a special occasion dedicated to honoring and celebrating the rich tapestry of culture, tradition, and history that shaped Upton’s vibrant community.

The significance of Heritage Day lies in its ability to remind everyone of the importance of preserving our cultural legacy. By acknowledging our heritage, we not only affirm our identity but also promote respect and appreciation for the differences that make our town unique.

Upton Historical Society plays a central role by organizing exhibitions, storytelling sessions, and tours that teach younger generations about their roots. Such initiatives help strengthen our community and ensure that traditions and history are passed down through the years.

The following offerings will be available on Upton Heritage Day:

  • Town-wide yard sale: Start your day early with the town-wide yard sale, where you can find hidden treasures across Upton. Maps of participating locations will be available at the United Parish for $3 https://www.unitedparishupton.org/
  • Vendor Fair on the Common (Main St): Browse the diverse selection of goods from local artisans and learn about local business and non-profit organizations on the Town Common from 9-2.
  • 81st Grange Harvest Fair at the VFW (Main St): Experience a taste of agricultural heritage at the VFW Post, featuring farm animals, flowers, and crafts.
  • Community Center Open House (Main St): Stop by to meet the staff, tour the facility, and learn about the Friends of Upton Seniors. In addition, Friends of the Upton Library will be hosting its annual library book sale from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If the kids need a break, visit the Upton Veterans Memorial Playground for some fun next to the community center!
  • EMS/Fire Department Open House (Church St): The Upton EMS/Fire Department will be hosting an open house focused on fire prevention & safety, as well as the department’s history, with fire truck rides available. We hope that Smokey the Bear will also make an appearance. The Upton Police and the Department of Public Works will also have equipment on display at the EMS/Fire House.
