Recupero scores late winner, HGVS and HBVS Advance to Elite 8

It was gritty, back and forth game between the Hopkinton Hillers and the Arlington Ponders last night. The Hillers took an early lead on a breakaway goal from Nicole Tedstone, but minutes later Arlington leveled the match by converting a penalty kick against goalkeeper Aila Chase.

The teams traded attacks, and the Hillers had two one-on-ones, but failed to score as Arlington goalkeeper Maeve Padien kept them at bay.

With the clock winding down the Hillers went on the attack. Senior Johanna Dupont crossed a dangerous ball into the box to onrushing Junior midfielder Madison Recupero, who directed it into the back of the net, eliminating Arlington from the MIAA tournament and pushing the Hillers forward into the round of 8.

Hiller Boys defeat North Attleboro and move on

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Hopkinton boys varsity soccer team met North Attleboro. The Hillers pounced on the Red Rocketeers by scoring two quick goals in the first minutes of the game. North Attleboro fought back, but the Hillers withstood the test and closed the game out on a Jack Ianelli goal from corner that was deflected off an opposing player. The game ended 3-2, and the boys move on to face Bedford on Saturday, November 11 at 12:00 at Bedford High.
