Moving past charcoal exercises\, we will talk about graphite and the range of pencils available and learn the steps on how to draw transfers from images to canvas. \nSkill Level: Any\, good for beginners and professionals \nInstructor: Keara i Mchaffie is a New England based artist who received her Bachelors of Fine Arts from The Art Institute of Chicago. Her work explores childhood memories and home life. She utilizes color in evocative ways to illustrate her experiences\, whether good or bad. She focuses on large scale oil paintings that revolve around constructed memories from her adolescence to adulthood. She will be receiving her Masters in Arts in Teaching and Learning of Art and Design\, from The Rhode Island School of Design in May 2025.

DESCRIPTION:Enter Stage Left Theater is excited to announce its winter 2025 musical production: Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. \nThe delicious adventures of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film\, in addition to a host of fun new songs\, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth. \nDirected by Mary Scarlata-Rowe. \nNo auditions are required for the Jr. Ensemble. They will take part in an original candy-themed prologue\, and then be added in to select ensemble numbers of the main production. Rehearsals for Jr Ensemble (2nd-3rd grade) will be on Sundays only until the week prior to performances. Rehearsal times are scheduled to be 12:00-1:00 pm. Starting in January the Saturday rehearsals will be for a longer length of time. \nThe mandatory tech week is January 20–23. Performances will take place on January 24-26\, 2025 at the Hopkinton Middle School. \nThe production fee includes a show souvenir T-shirt and access to an online recording of the public performance.

DESCRIPTION:About the event \nIndigenous women and girls are 11 times more likely to go missing or be murdered than the national average\, ¾ of indigenous women experience violence from their intimate partner and 98% of indigenous people experience violence in their lifetime. Men and two-spirit people are not far behind in these staggering statistics. \nThe missing and murdered Indigenous peoples crisis has inspired the series Portraits in RED: Missing & Murdered Indigenous Peoples Painting Project which began on May 5\, 2020\, by Indigenous artist Nayana LaFond who never intended it to become a project at all. Over three years later she has completed about 110 portraits and has a waiting queue. Each portrait is of a missing or murdered indigenous person\, their family member\, or an advocate or activist working for the cause. LaFond doesn’t profit in any way from this work and hopes to bring awareness to this ongoing issue as well as healing for the families she works with. \nMeet the Artist \nFriday\, November 1st from 6 to 7 p.m. Open and free to the public.

DESCRIPTION:Boston Dance Theater (BDT) is bold\, creative\, ambitious\, hardworking\, and courageous—all of those things without hubris. BDT welcomes new ideas\, engagement\, and critical insight into its art and company. \nNamed on Dance Magazine’s prestigious “25 to Watch” list\, BDT aspires to be Boston’s first nationally and internationally-known contemporary dance company. We are committed to our art\, community\, and a culture of innovation\, accountability\, and JEDI (Justice\, Equity\, Diversity\, and Inclusion). All of our artworks are socio-politically relevant and match the talents of diverse and influential dancers with our acclaimed choreographic partners. \nBDT is the brainchild of Founder and Co-Artistic Director Jessie Jeanne Stinnett. Stinnett co-directs the company with her mentor\, Dutch-Israeli choreographer Itzik Galili. Inspired by her work with multiple companies and choreographers in Europe\, the UK\, the US\, and Canada\, Jessie envisioned a company with a diverse artistic base collaborating with cutting-edge choreographers in an equity and acceptance setting. \nSince 2017\, the company has presented over 72 workshops\, open rehearsals\, and performances to an audience of over 6\,500 with presenting partners Global Arts Live\, Jacob’s Pillow\, Harvard ArtLab\, and many others. \nAbout the Performance: \nPinnacle Works includes a diverse range of repertory choreographed by Itzik Galili (The Netherlands\, Israel)\, Marco Goecke (Germany)\, and Alessandro Sousa Pereira (Brazil\, Denmark). These choreographers have each been decorated by royalty for their unique contributions to the performing arts.
